Immune support with whole-foods: Elderberry syrup

We’ve all been dealing with this national pandemic and now we are rolling into the regular cold and flu season as well. We all know, getting sick stinks! It is well documented that a plant-based diet can support your immune system due to the vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals and antioxidants in plants (one such source is The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center if you want to read more). But what can we do for an extra boost?

I recommend (along with a plant-based diet) strengthening your immune system more with elderberry syrup. Elderberry syrup is one tool in your toolbox for immune support. This preventative medicine has been around for hundreds of years as a part of traditional medicine, used to prevent and help fight a cold or flu. Elderberries contain Vitamin C, Vitamin A and flavonoids that can benefit the immune system.

I have experienced first-hand benefits and want others to benefit as well. But be warned! Store bought elderberry syrup is not only expensive it has many ingredients that can be detrimental to your health such as fructose syrup, preservatives, and natural flavors (it is unknown what this includes). That’s why I began offering elderberry syrup kits. My recipe includes whole-food plant-based ingredients that provide an added array of immune support. The recipe also gives you control over sweetness level so that you can be assured the finished product is customized to your preferences.
