Got Vegetables?

Did you know that kids DO NOT need to drink cow milk to build strong bones?! What’s important to building bones is calcium. Yes, milk has calcium, but it can cause things such as:

  • Acne, eczema, and other skin conditions

  • Asthma

  • Bone fractures

  • Cancers

  • Colic

  • Ear infections

Growing up my parents, at the guidance of their parents and my pediatrician always made me drink a glass of milk with dinner to build strong bones. Today, we know better, acknowledging that around 75% of the world's population is lactose intolerant (source).


But we still need strong bones...so what do we do? Eat leafy green vegetables, beans, fortified juices, soymilk and many other plant-based foods! These are all high in calcium and can help build strong bones. And what’s even better about the plant-based food is the other nutrients and vitamins you’ll consume which keep your health in top shape.
